The importance of understanding upper cervical chiropractic care cannot be understated.  Upper Cervical Chiropractic in many ways is healthcare’s best-kept secret!  As a doctor of chiropractic at Keystone Specific Chiropractic Center in Wyomissing, PA, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that this type of care can have on a patient’s health and well-being.  In fact, many people eventually ask, Why don’t more chiropractors practice this way?  Why have I not heard about it before?

Upper Cervical Chiropractic
The focus of Upper Cervical Chiropractic:

Upper cervical chiropractic care focuses on the alignment of the upper cervical spine, which includes the atlas and axis vertebrae. These two vertebrae are responsible for the mobility of the neck and are very important to overall health. When these two vertebrae become misaligned, there can be a variety of problems, such as pain, headaches, and even referred pain in other areas of the body. Upper cervical chiropractors use a variety of techniques to correct misalignments in the upper cervical spine. These techniques include gentle adjustments, that are based on very specific x-rays.

Why x-rays?

I get it, I don’t like radiation either, but I don’t like people guessing while working on my spine, let alone my neck!  Upper Cervical Chiropractors take important x-rays to have a thorough analysis of the cervical spine.  These x-rays help us see the anatomy we are working on and allow us to check for pathology.  Ultimately, they help us come up with a very detailed way you address your unique misalignment.

The goal is to realign the vertebrae and restore proper movement in the neck. At my practice in Wyomissing, I always strive to provide my patients with the best possible care. I have seen firsthand how upper cervical chiropractic care can help improve a patient’s overall health and well-being. It is important to understand that when the upper cervical spine is properly aligned, the body is better able to function, enhanced communication between the brain and the body, and heal itself!

Who can Upper Cervical Care help?

Upper cervical chiropractic care can help patients who suffer from a variety of conditions, including migraines, neck pain, fibromyalgia, trouble with balance and coordination, TMJ, and trauma. It can also help improve overall posture, flexibility, and range of motion in the neck. Additionally, upper cervical chiropractic care can help to reduce inflammation, decrease the frequency and severity of headaches, and improve the overall quality of life.

So why don’t more people practice this way?

Ultimately,  upper cervical chiropractic requires more training, it tends to be hard for those who aren’t disciplined.  If you are looking for relief from neck pain, headaches, or other conditions, please consider giving upper cervical chiropractic a try. It may just be the answer you have been looking for!
